ANDY WARHOL GOES TO LUNCH 2
Andy Warhol Goes to Lunch is an 18x24 digital collage!! I made this piece in Photoshop using 15-20 found images. This piece was so much fun and almost an emotional rest for me. I have been making so many pieces with profound ideas or concepts that it was lovely to have fun being creative. So, Andy Warhol Goes to Lunch is a fictional piece broken into two parts. Not only is this piece made like a storybook, but it also reads like one. So I will go ahead and do the honors of being your narrator and read this story to you…
Part One: Andy Warhol, the king of pop art, goes to lunch at his infamous dinner with his art hanging in the windows, almost like a shrine of himself. Sitting next to him is Pablo Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, and across from Andy is a mysterious-looking man in a beautiful fur coat. I like to think of this dapper man as one of the biggest buyers in the art world. He has orchestrated this lunch to make a business proposition that they work together to create an iconic piece. The men are turned around, looking around because people in the diner are whispering about this meeting, and someone just happened to flash a picture of history being made.
Part Two: years have passed, and memories have faded, but the famous artworks of both Andy and Picasso live on in museums across the globe. The infamous Andy Warhol and Picasso collab is nowhere to be found; all that was left is the photograph taken at the diner. Now the picture hangs in a museum in River City, Bangkok, where art fanatics relic of what could have been, and super fans come and keep the photograph company. Maybe I will explain what the collab could have been in part three…
